Christmas Vacation
12/23/06 10:55
Well, Jessica finished
her last day of school on Thursday, officially
kicking-off our Christmas Vacation.
She and I exchanged some gifts by our tree and fire before watching "White Christmas" with mugs of hot chocolate in our hands on that night. The following day found us in Lewisville with my family, the Butlers, Sharon, and Gregg, eating, playing catch phrase, watching the new movie, "Night at the Museum," and playing a pick-up game of football in the street. It was a blast!
It's so great to just be with family and friends and not have to be thinking about school or anything. Plus, we get to see our adorable little niece, Ainsley!

For the next week, we'll be spending time with my family, Jessica's family, and all of our friends that are in town as we celebrate Christmas. Then, next Thursday, with Joey & Nicole and Clint & MIssy, we'll be heading to the blizzard in Colorado to go skiing.

Angel Food
12/16/06 11:04
Long before I arrived,
our church, Trinity Baptist, began a ministry called
"Angel Food." Several churches take part in this
ministry. The basic premise is that it helps
lower-income families, or anyone who shares a similar
need for that matter, get food for cheap. Families
can buy about $100 worth of groceries for $20.
Currently, our church serves more than 230 families
every month. Moreover, we are now a host site,
meaning that seven other churches come to us each
month at 6 a.m. to pick up their pallets of food that
they then take back to their churches and distribute
to a host of other families.
I love serving with the church in this ministry because as I look around while we work, I can't help but think that this is something the early church probably did (I think about Stephen and the daily distribution of food to the widows). Even though it's like 6 o'clock on a Saturday morning, everybody is in a joyful mood, enjoying serving with one another, all the while, getting to meet some real needs of our community. I think stuff like this reflects the #1 calling of the church; namely, to Love!
Here's a picture I snapped on my cell phone this morning at the end of Angel Food.

Final Finals
12/12/06 20:33
I think I did well on
my Church History and Evangelism exams today, and am
hoping to do the same on my two finals tomorrow.
After that, I'll be done for the semester. I'm
looking forward to a long Christmas break. Tonight
will find me studying nothing but Greek as I cram for
what will probably prove to be my most difficult exam
of the semester. Clint's luw song
of the Greek verbs
has been a great studying tool. Once I'm finished,
I'll post a new, more interesting blog. Till
then...GREEK!
Ringing in the Season
12/05/06 22:21
I get pretty excited
for Christmas. Already, Jess and I have put up our
Charlie-Brown-Like Tree, gone Christmas shopping, and
watched a few of our favorite Christmas movies by the
fire while drinking hot chocolate.

Christmas music is racking up the play counts on my iPod, our youth group is involved in various service opportunities so that we may love on some people in our community, and the Christmas Countdown widget on my computer dashboard keeps me up to date second by second (we currently have 19 days, 3 hours, 32 minutes, and 54 seconds left until Christmas).

It's gonna be a great month!
