Pictures Updated

It's been a long time coming, but I finally updated our pictures page. It is simplified and full of new pictures of our niece Ainsley and our brand new nephews, Jackson and Braxton.

Braxton David Williams

Braxton
My brother Brian and his wife Brooke just had their second baby; their first boy. Braxton David Williams was born yesterday morning, February 19th, weighing 8 lbs. 8 ounces. This adorable little picture was sent to me via my brother's iPhone. I'll post more pics once I have them. Check Brian & Brooke's website for more info and pics.

Congratulations Brian & Brooke! I can't wait to see the adventure Braxton takes us all on!

will.i.am & Obama

I came across this video produced by will.i.am and thought it was pretty inspiring. will.i.am., producer and rapper best known for his involvement with the Black Eyed Peas (one of my favorites), features John Legend and several other celebrities in this video that highlights one of Barack Obama's speeches. It's an uplifting video with an impassioned message. Enjoy:

My Bride

Since I started this blog about a year and a half ago, I have written about topics ranging from running, fantasy football, seminary, camping, holidays, our church, and nieces and nephews to other topics including Peru, Mexico, the Bahamas, Nebraska, skiing, evangelism, holidays, baptism, and books. This week though, in light of Valentine's Day (the 14th) and Jessica's birthday (the 11th), I have decided to dedicate a blog to the most important and amazing person in my life: my Wife!

She is beautiful, creative, passionate, funny, godly, adventurous, encouraging, brilliant, adorable, challenging, and just altogether wonderful. She is the kind of girl that proves the truth of Proverbs 31:10. "An excellent wife, who can find? For her worth is far above jewels." She is indeed without equal. So, in honor of Jessica (I hope this doesn't embarrass her too much), here are some, perhaps, little known facts about the woman through whom God blessed this shlub:

Quick History: Born in Ft. Wayne, Indiana; born 3 minutes earlier than her twin sister; graduated from Marcus High School (the rival of my high school); met Jonathan her senior year and turned him down when asked to go to his senior prom; played college basketball on a full ride at Tyler Junior College (where she and her sis were co-MVP's of the National Championship Game) and then at Stephen F. Austin.

Job: Teaches 6th-10th grade at a Christian private school and coaches the varsity girls' basketball team.

Hobbies: Digital scrapbooking, photography, reading, running, biking, roller blades, singing & dancing (when she thinks no one is looking).

Favorite Movies: "While You Were Sleeping," "One Fine Day," "Fever Pitch," "Gladiator," and Christmas and Chris Farley movies (I'm probably forgetting some)

Artists on her iPod: Shawn McDonald, Alli Rogers, Jeremy Camp, Mercy Me, Kelly Clarkson, Bebo Norman, Shane & Shane, Chris Tomlin, the Judds

Recently Read Books: "The Cost of Discipleship" (Bonhoeffer), "Night" (Wiesel), "Ragamuffin Gospel" (Manning), "A Long Way Gone" (Beah), "Fly me to the Moon" (Noel), "Organic Church" (Cole), "Houses that Change the World" (Simson), "The Choice" (Sparks), "Water for Elephants" (Gruen), "Blue like Jazz" (Miller), and "Jungle Sunrise" (Williams).

Passions: Missions, Africa (Jess served on a missionary team to South Africa in the summer of '05), her church, her family, her husband

Future Desires: Surf; Triathlon; U.S. Road Trip; Travel to Austrailia, Italy, Israel, Africa (again), and as many Islands as possible; have beautiful babies with Jonathan

Random: Jess is an aunt to Ainsley, Jackson and (soon) Braxton; her power song when she runs is Nelly's "Heart of a Champion;" she absolutely loves Christmas more than anyone I know; she's hilarious; grew up with a cat named Bruiser that she's still crazy about; she loves the beach and the ocean; her favorite dessert is a Hot Fudge Ice Cream Cake; and, she is the Love of my Life!

Marketing Idea

The other day, I called my brother to let him know that Jess and I had received a "Thank You" card from him and Brooke. Joking, I told him his "You're Welcome" card was in the mail. The more we talked though, I started to think that we had stumbled upon a brilliant marketing idea: "You're Welcome" Cards!

Think about it: Somebody gives you a new shirt for Christmas and before you can even send them a "Thank You" card, you receive in the mail a "You're Welcome" card from them.

It could say, "Hey, I just wanted to tell you You're Welcome for the shirt I gave you for Christmas. I know you love those kind of shirts from that particular store and I'm sure you're really going to enjoy wearing it all year long. I know you appreciate my generosity and want to say, "Thank You," and I just want you to know that "You're Welcome."

Drop me a comment and let me know what you think and whether or not you'd like to invest in this new marketing opportunity. I've already spoken with Hallmark and they're in. I'm also working on a preemptive "I Forgive You" card that should be out in time for the busy greeting card season this summer.

Amazing Picture

Talk about being in the right place at the right time and with the right camera lens.

That is indeed a real life 9-month-old baby being dropped four stories by his uncle out of a burning building during a fire in a small town in Germany today that killed at least 9 people, including this baby's older brother. A policeman caught this baby and he's doing fine. Check out the full story here.

Being an uncle myself, I truly hope that neither I nor their aunt Jess ever have to drop Ainsley, Jackson or Braxton out of a burning building. I'm sure their parents, Brian & Brooke and Joey & Nicole echo my sentiments.
